The American Polo Horse Association has been established to collect, record and preserve pedigrees of polo horses in the United States as well as to encourage events that showcase the polo horse.

For generations, people have bred polo horses around the United States and throughout the world. Horses that are competing in the United States today are from a wide range of breeds and countries. Some of today's polo horses can be traced to breeding programs from as far back as the early 1900's. Where can we go to find the bloodline records for these great athletes and all of the breeders, trainers and players associated with thier success? It would be like trying to find information about, "Secretariat" without have the Jockey Club as a resource or, "Rugged Lark" without the AQHA. January 2006 marked the founding the the American Polo Horse Association by Sunny Hale and the beginning of a new era for polo and the connection we all have with our sport's most important contributor, the polo horse.

The American Polo Horse Association provides a central location to research, learn about and stay connected with these great athletes and the breeder, trainers and players responsible for their success, from baby to Best Playing Pony. Registration is open to any breed of horse. Registration of a horse means that you are entering that horse's information into a searchable database of polo horse pedigrees and creating a verifiable starting point for your horse's bloodline to be documented in the future. Registration of a polo horse also provides that horse and its breeder, trainer and player with the opportunity to be recognized for any future achievements.

Polo players have the choice to ride any breed and size of horse that suits their needs and there is a large necessity for good horses at every level of the sport from 0-40 goal. The polo horse and its incredible abilities are the foundation of what makes the sport of polo so unique and all the more reason why it is time these great athletes receive the recognition they deserve.
